DIVAE – Diversity in aural education: Nordic women composers as a resource in music teaching.

The project aims to develop a widely accessible digital resource bank for ear training, aimed at all levels of music education. Teaching materials such as sheet music, audio files, worksheets, PowerPoint presentations and teacher’s guides will be available for immediate use. The music will be composed exclusively by Nordic women. This group is very rarely represented in Nordic textbooks and teaching practices.

During the project phase, ten researchers and aural training teachers from Norway, Sweden and Denmark will collaborate to identify relevant music, organise conferences and workshops, and develop the resource bank. By focusing on Nordic female composers, the project helps to expand the musical canon, strengthen gender equality in music education and promote Nordic cooperation. The project has the potential to bring about lasting changes in how music is understood, taught and practised, and it represents a significant step towards a more inclusive and diverse musical culture.
