Nordic Information on Gender (NIKK) is a co-operation body under the Nordic Council of Ministers for Gender Equality and LGBTI. We collect, disseminate and analyse knowledge about policy and practice, data and research in the field of gender equality and LGBTI with a Nordic and cross-sectoral perspective.
NIKK’s areas of activity address some of the major challenges of our time and are linked to the global Sustainable Development Goals. Our knowledge base is grounded in research and contributes in-depth Nordic and cross-sectoral perspectives.
NIKK has a unique position in the Nordics, complementing national actors. We co-operate with both national and other Nordic actors, for example through joint events where we share our knowledge.
Our mission also includes managing and administering the Nordic Gender Equality Fund and the Nordic LGBTI Fund.
NIKK will be managed by the Swedish Secretariat for Gender Research at the University of Gothenburg during the period 2025–2030.

What are the conditions for a free knowledge society, a fair and just working life and an equal Nordic region? The Swedish Secretariat for Gender Research contributes research-based knowledge, based on gender perspectives and power-critical analyses. The Secretariat collaborate and have assignments at national, Nordic and international level. Since its foundation in 1998, it has been part of the University of Gothenburg.
