About NIKK

Nordic Information on Gender (NIKK) is a co-operation body under the Nordic Council of Ministers. We gather and communicate knowledge about policy and practice, and facts and research in the area of gender equality and equal rights for LGBTI people with a Nordic and cross-sectoral perspective.

NIKK’s areas of activity touch on some of the major challenges of our time, and are tied to the global sustainable development goals. The knowledge base we have is evidence-based and  contributes to deepening Nordic and cross-sectoral perspectives in the area of gender equality and equal rights for LGBTI people.

NIKK has a unique position in the Nordic region in that it complements efforts by national players. We co-operate with national and other Nordic actors, for example through joint events where we share knowledge.

Our mission also includes administering the Nordic Gender Equality Fund and the Nordic LGBTI Fund.

The Nordic Council of Ministers has decided that NIKK is to operate as a co-operative body at the Swedish Secretariat for Gender Research, University of Gothenburg, Sweden. The period for this mission runs from October 2012 to 2030.
